Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 1, fighting out of New York, Mauricio Austin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mako Choliman!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Jorge Garcia and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Austin pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Choliman feints and as Austin raises his hands in defense, Choliman changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Choliman postures up.
Choliman stopping the sweep attempt from Austin.
Choliman controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Mako Choliman has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

and Choliman counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Choliman works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Choliman content to stall in guard here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Austin looking to control.
Choliman scoring with punches to the head and body.
Austin is trying to keep Choliman in close.
Choliman engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Choliman shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Austin manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Austin keeping moving, preventing Choliman from controlling successfully.
Choliman stopping the sweep attempt from Austin.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Choliman controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Choliman in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Choliman looking to sit in guard and control but Austin gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Choliman is adopting a defensive guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Choliman wants to sweep here but Austin controlling him for the moment.
Austin has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Mako Choliman hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Austin throws a head kick but Choliman moves out of range.
Austin slaps away a takedown attempt from Choliman, before circling back to the center of the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Austin misses with a takedown

and Choliman counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Austin!
Austin is breathing heavily.
Choliman creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Austin sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Choliman wants to control but Austin is keeping him busy.
Austin gets back to half guard.
Choliman is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Choliman scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Choliman slips a nice elbow through Austin's hands, connecting with Austin's forehead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mako Choliman dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Austin doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Choliman counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.


Austin is rocked!
Choliman uses his free foot to push down on Austin's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Austin.
Oh Austin is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A big strike lands for Choliman! That's really hurt Austin and he's turned his back - Choliman keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Choliman jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mako Choliman!
