The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Heracles throws a lazy head kick
and Rutten counters with a slapping leg kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from Heracles. Rutten does a little dance to reset his feet.
Rutten blocks a jab.
Rutten delivers a nice body kick.
Rutten tries a head kick but it misses.
Heracles misses with a double jab.
Heracles loads up on a big right hand but Rutten slips the punch.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rutten dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Heracles. That did some damage!

Rutten throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Heracles sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Rutten buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Heracles's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Heracles throws a sloppy head kick and Rutten moves out of range easily.
Rutten throws the left hand but Heracles avoids the punch easily.

That has opened up Poseidon Heracles's cut even more.

Rutten pushes Heracles up against the cage in a clinch.
Rutten can't find room to land a body shot as Heracles controls the action.
Heracles is trying to break the clinch but Rutten has him pressed against the cage.
Rutten working some nice short punches in the clinch.

The cut above Poseidon Heracles's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Rutten tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Heracles's elbow.

Rutten escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rutten ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Heracles moves away.
Rutten throws a nice outside leg kick.
Rutten bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Rutten lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Heracles thows a body shot but no joy.
Heracles on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Rutten. Rutten obviously looking to wear him down.
Rutten throws a nice inside leg kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rutten misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Rutten fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Heracles.

Rutten fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Heracles, pushing him back against the cage.
Rutten goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Rutten stalls.
Rutten misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Heracles prevents a body shot from Rutten.

Rutten breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nice defenses there by Heracles.
Rutten tries a head kick but it misses.
Heracles fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Rutten looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Rutten keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Rutten lands a head kick. Heracles smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Rutten tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Heracles throws a right and a left that Rutten avoids nicely.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Poseidon Heracles's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Poseidon Heracles's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
