PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sebastian Wilder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrey Petrushka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sebastian Wilder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andrey Petrushka!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Valeri Chadov and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wilder fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Wilder checks the leg kick.
Petrushka misses the shot to the body.
Petrushka avoids the body shot from Wilder.
Petrushka has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Petrushka there as he acknowledges the shot.
Petrushka lands a nice shot to the body.
Petrushka throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Petrushka misses with a combination
and Wilder counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Petrushka throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Petrushka fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Petrushka misses with a looping left.
Wilder keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Petrushka misses with the combination.
Petrushka misses with a hook. Wilder ducked under it nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Wilder shoots in and bounces Petrushka off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Wilder prevents Petrushka from getting back to his feet.
Petrushka is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Wilder is looking to work some ground and pound but Petrushka has wrist control.
Petrushka working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Wilder.

Wilder missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Wilder throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Wilder throws a big right hand that misses.
Wilder really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Wilder has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Wilder working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Wilder postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Petrushka really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wilder. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Wilder is in close to Petrushka's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Wilder throws a strike but Petrushka rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Petrushka postures up.
Wilder looking to hit a scissor sweep but Petrushka is one step ahead there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Petrushka wants to get up but he can't break Wilder's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Wilder manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Petrushka manages to get himself to full guard.
Wilder missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Petrushka is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sebastian Wilder dominated that round.

Jab, jab by Petrushka - just one landing.


It looks like Sebastian Wilder has been cut.
Petrushka listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Petrushka misses with a wild combination.
Horrible takedown by Wilder or perhaps it was just good defense by Petrushka which made him look bad.
Petrushka looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Andrey Petrushka is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Petrushka throws a series of punches but Wilder moves out of range.
Wilder scores with a head kick.
Petrushka cracks Wilder with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Wilder tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Petrushka pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Wilder is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Andrey Petrushka!
