Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Knight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johny Rico (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rico has chosen Bolt Thrower - The IVth Crusade as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Carlos Knight could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Johny Rico's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Carlos Knight!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Johny Rico!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Dirk Anderson and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rico wants to clinch up but Knight keeps it at a distance.

Rico fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Knight to the ground. Rico is now in Knight's guard.
Knight pulls Rico in close to prevent any damage.
Rico must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Rico prevents Knight from getting back to his feet.
Rico is looking to advance position but Knight has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rico can do anything to dispel that myth.
Knight sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Rico should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Rico tries to hold on but Knight pushes him away.
Rico is trying desperately to improve position.
Knight definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Knight wants to finish this one by submission but Rico is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Knight.
Rico has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Knight's lack of action.

Knight is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Rico is looking for a sweep. Knight is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Knight passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Rico!

Rico wants to control but Knight is having none of it.

Knight tries to control but Rico wriggling away.
Rico is desperately trying to improve his position but Knight has a good base and remains in mount.
Rico is still trying to improve position.

Rico tries to lock up and control but Knight gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Rico tries to hold on but Knight postures up.
Knight controlling the position easily from mount.
Knight raining down shots from the mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Knight takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Rico is in all sorts of trouble here.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Rico has eaten all the pies!
Rico is squirming around, avoiding Knight's attempts to control the action.
Knight controlling from the full mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rico keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Knight trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Rico can't escape the position.
Knight controlling the pace for now.
Knight putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rico tries to hold on but Knight pushes him away.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Knight lands a couple of good shots and Rico has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Knight is not going to allow Rico to sit and survive in this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carlos Knight dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Knight shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Rico counters with a takedown into side control.
Carlos Knight overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Rico wants to stand but Knight has his arm trapped.
Knight manages to get back to half guard.
Rico tries to pass the half guard into mount. Knight knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Rico is looking for a kimura but Knight is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Rico to get the leverage.

Knight is pressing down on Rico's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Knight keeping moving, preventing Rico from controlling successfully.
Rico might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Knight haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Knight wants to sweep but no luck.
Rico wants to stand and escape but instead Knight has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Knight wants to control from the top but Rico keeps moving.

Knight is pushing down on Rico's leg trying to pass to half guard. Rico is fighting to maintain full guard but Knight has managed to sneak the leg through.
Knight wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rico keeps working.
Rico is pressing down on Knight's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Rico had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Knight defends it easily.
Knight really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Knight is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Rico wants to get back to his feet but Knight is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Rico is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Knight showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Knight seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Rico for as long as he can get away with.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Carlos Knight wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Rico - that will leave a mark!
Knight tries for a takedown but Rico sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Knight gets tackled into the cage by Rico. Rico maintains the clinch.

Knight gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Rico regains guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Knight trying to control but Rico is working from the bottom.
Knight sitting in guard, not really doing much.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Knight won't allow Rico to get back to his feet.
Knight seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Knight won't allow Rico to sweep him here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Carlos Knight.
Rico fails with an attempt to clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rico tries to clinch but Knight is having none of it.

Rico scores with a takedown into Knight's guard.
Rico slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Johny Rico will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Rico lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Rico doesn't manage to clinch there - Knight circles away.

Knight changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rico looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Knight wants to control but Rico is keeping him busy.
Rico avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Knight.
Knight is staying tight to Rico's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Rico wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Knight wants to control but Rico is keeping him busy.

Rico tries to improve position but can't.
Knight controlling from side mount.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Knight here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Rico is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Knight looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Rico is avoiding damage well.
Rico pushes Knight away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Knight gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Knight in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Rico tries to buck Knight off but Knight is having none of it.
Knight is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Rico's shoulder. That is not cool.
Knight trying to control the action but Rico is working from the bottom.
Rico is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Knight off and has taken his back!
Rico tries to keep control of the position but Knight is staying busy.
Rico struggling to land strikes to the head as Knight covers up.

Rico is persistently looking for the submission but Knight is defending it well.

Knight tries to escape but Rico has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Rico has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Rico just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Rico doesn't have the hooks in and Knight manages to turn into his guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Knight stays in close to Rico's body and controls the position.
Knight will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Rico shoots in and bounces Knight off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Carlos Knight.
I think Knight has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
