PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mario Banks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kamikaze Tiger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mario Banks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kamikaze Tiger!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tiger shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Banks manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Banks had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Tiger defends it easily.
Tiger wants to pass the guard but Banks is keeping the position.
Banks knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tiger on the ground.
Banks wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Tiger engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Tiger working some strikes from top position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tiger postures up.
Tiger trying to stand up but can't free himself from Banks's guard.
Tiger not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mario Banks wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Tiger swats away the attempt to clinch by Banks.
Banks tries to clinch but Tiger is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Tiger shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Tiger pushes down on Banks's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Tiger throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Tiger seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Banks does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Tiger is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Tiger tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Banks.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tiger throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Banks tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Tiger has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Tiger wants to control the pace but Banks is squirming around nicely.
Tiger might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Banks haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tiger lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tiger thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Tiger tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Banks is looking to improve his position but Tiger isn't that keen on the idea.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kamikaze Tiger dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Tiger fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Banks to the ground. Tiger is now in Banks's guard.
Banks can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Tiger controls the pace.
Tiger wants to stand but Banks is controlling his posture from full guard.
Tiger slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Kamikaze Tiger.
Banks tries to clinch up

and Tiger moves into the clinch.
Banks misses with a punch on the inside.
Tiger missing with knees to the body.
Banks slows down the pace here.
Tiger looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A frustrated look appears on Banks's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Tiger works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Tiger wants to control from the top but Banks keeps moving.

Tiger drops back, looking for a kneebar! Banks looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Banks looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Banks!
Tiger wants to get back to his feet but Banks drags him back down.

Banks tries for a kimura but Tiger is defending well.
Banks tries to stand but Tiger is controlling his head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Banks prevents Tiger from escaping the position.

Banks is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Tiger has escaped the position, nice work there.
Tiger is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Banks asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Banks in side control, throwing shots but Tiger defends.
Tiger gets back to half guard.
Banks throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Banks is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Tiger doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Banks.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Tiger is trying to stand up here but Banks is controlling him well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Tiger is defending against the submission attempts here by Banks.
Tiger is looking to control Banks's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Tiger avoid being mounted?

Tiger is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Banks pulls his head out easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Tiger gets full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kamikaze Tiger showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Tiger gets the takedown into side control.
Banks really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Tiger wants to control but Banks is keeping him busy.
Banks gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Banks tries to hold on but Tiger postures up.
Banks wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Tiger is hanging on to Banks's back as he tries to escape.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Tiger is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Banks has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Tiger has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Banks taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Tiger doesn't care though - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:25 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Kamikaze Tiger!
