PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yoshiro Makamori (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie's entrance music is 50 Cent - In Da Club. A fine choice. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bruce Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Yoshiro Makamori!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie takes one to the side of the head.
Makamori connects with a high kick.
Gracie on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Makamori. Makamori obviously looking to wear him down.
Makamori tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Gracie manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Gracie is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Makamori pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Makamori digs a right hand underneath Gracie's ribcage. Gracie let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Gracie drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bruce Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gracie wants to take the fight to the mat but Makamori manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Makamori lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Gracie is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Makamori is defending well.

Makamori gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Gracie.
Gracie wants a takedown but no success here.
A right handed body shot lands from Makamori.
Gracie tries for a takedown but Makamori manages to get underhooks.
Makamori is pressed up against the cage. Gracie has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Makamori down to the mat. Makamori avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Gracie stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Makamori.
Gracie is breathing heavily.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Makamori.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A slapping leg kick lands for Makamori.
Gracie has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Makamori finds it's way round the side to connect with Gracie's head.
Makamori throws a shot to the body.
Makamori has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Makamori scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Gracie doesn't seem bothered though.
Makamori lands with a straight right. Gracie didn't see that one coming.
Makamori throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Makamori knocks Gracie to the floor with a head kick! Can he finish him!?

Gracie is rocked!

It looks like Bruce Gracie has been cut.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Makamori has an Americana. Gracie didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Makamori is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Makamori hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Yoshiro Makamori!
A very excited looking Yoshiro Makamori rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
