Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ian Rhodes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andre Goncalves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Andre Goncalves!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Luis Engracia and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goncalves shoots in for a takedown but Rhodes shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Rhodes closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Goncalves quickly recovers to half guard.

Rhodes had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Goncalves defends it easily.

That was a close round but I would say that Ian Rhodes will probably get the nod.

Rhodes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Goncalves tries to avoid it but Rhodes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Goncalves to the ground. Goncalves escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Rhodes tightens his grip and picks Goncalves up, before dumping him to the ground. Goncalves manages to land in guard.
Rhodes really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rhodes accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Goncalves jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Rhodes is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Rhodes and Goncalves has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Andre Goncalves has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ian Rhodes is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rhodes, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
