Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carl Draiman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sean Strickland!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Anni Minnemäki and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Strickland has a takedown stuffed.
Draiman misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Draiman thows a body shot but no joy.
Draiman is looking to land body kicks.
Draiman tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Strickland paws at him with a jab and circles away.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Strickland can do anything to dispel that myth.

Strickland really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Draiman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Strickland rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Draiman moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Strickland is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Draiman to keep the fight standing.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Sean Strickland.

Strickland dives in and grabs Draiman's left leg, looking for a takedown. Draiman pushes down on Strickland's head and hops out.
Strickland moves out of range of the body kick from Draiman.

Draiman jumps guard and drags Strickland to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Strickland must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Strickland tries to free his leg and advance position but Draiman is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Draiman pulls Strickland in close to his closed guard and prevents Strickland from doing any damage or advancing position.
Strickland stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Draiman swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Strickland keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Draiman's head.

Draiman thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Draiman has control of Strickland's left arm, preventing Strickland from doing any damage.
Draiman is trying to control the position but Strickland postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Carl Draiman.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Strickland shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Draiman sprawls well. Draiman wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Strickland gets slowly back to his feet.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Sean Strickland hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Strickland goes for a double leg but Draiman avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Draiman continues to drive forward.
Strickland takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Strickland is looking to control Draiman's arms but Draiman gets an underhook and turns him. Now Strickland has his back to the cage.

Carl Draiman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sean Strickland.

Strickland is fighting off a takedown attempt but Draiman is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Strickland to the mat. Strickland regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Draiman connects with a nice short shot to Strickland's temple.
