Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Blerim Hyka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Colin St John (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hyka comes to the cage accompanied by Iron Maiden - 'The Evil That Men Do'. St John comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Uilleann Pipes kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Colin St John enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Blerim Hyka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Colin St John!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Sam Margolis and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
St John misses with an uppercut
and Hyka counters with a nice uppercut.


It looks like Colin St John has been cut.
Hyka misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

St John throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Hyka tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. St John is in Hyka's guard.

Hyka had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. St John defends it easily.
St John keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Hyka's head.

St John got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hyka has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, St John has managed to get both his arms back between Hyka's legs - danger averted.

St John avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Hyka working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. St John doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. St John manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
St John has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
St John with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
St John slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
St John postures up and lands a big shot to Hyka's brow.

St John keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Hyka's head.

St John throwing strikes from guard but Hyka blocks nicely.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
St John trying to control the position from guard on top but Hyka is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Hyka is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and St John defends well.
Hyka keeping moving, preventing St John from controlling successfully.
St John sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hyka's guard.

Hyka is not content to let St John control the position.
Hyka is looking to control St John's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hyka avoid being mounted?
Hyka on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Hyka is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but St John pulls his head out easily.
St John working over Hyka with some ground and pound. Hyka looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
St John winds up and cracks Hyka with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Hyka tries to get to full guard but St John has control of the leg.
St John is controlling the pace.
St John working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
St John is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee warns Hyka that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
St John fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!


It looks like Blerim Hyka has been cut.
St John postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Hyka looks a forlorn figure.


Hyka is rocked!


Blerim Hyka's cut is getting worse.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hyka regains half guard.
Oh Hyka is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
St John scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
St John seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
St John is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.


Blerim Hyka's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Hyka is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Koru MMA, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Hyka trying to hold on to St John's head to control him but St John postures up.
St John lands a big elbow - Hyka is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for St John!
