Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Adam Duritz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mikio Okita (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mikio Okita has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Adam Duritz!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 37 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mikio Okita!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duritz throws a head kick that misses.
Duritz will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Duritz clinches.
Okita jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Duritz walks away with a smile on his face. Okita gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Duritz throws a wild body kick that Okita sees coming a mile off.
Okita lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Duritz at a distance.
Duritz dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Okita. That did some damage!
Duritz closes the distance looking to clinch

and Okita counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Duritz!
Duritz is looking to reverse the position.
Duritz stops Okita from passing to mount.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Duritz is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Cavemen Dojo that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Okita is putting a hurting on Duritz here, landing some big shots from side control.

Okita wants to control but Duritz is keeping him busy.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Duritz avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Okita.
Duritz trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Duritz is in all sorts of trouble here.
Duritz wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Okita.
Okita trying to control but Duritz is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Duritz bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Okita is on top in guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Okita trying to control the position from guard on top but Duritz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Duritz is looking to control Okita's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Duritz avoid being mounted?
Okita is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Duritz holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Okita tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Okita working some short elbows here. He postures up to throw some more ground and pound but Duritz slips a leg through to get back to half guard. Nice work.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Okita connects with a nice short shot to Duritz's temple.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The fighters are battling for position here. Duritz manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Okita stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Duritz swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Duritz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Okita counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Duritz pulls Okita in close to his closed guard and prevents Okita from doing any damage or advancing position.

Mikio Okita has got the better of the ground game so far.
Duritz wants to hit a switch here but Okita passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Duritz there!
Okita has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Okita is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Duritz to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Duritz shrugs it off.

My spies in Ballas Only inform me that Okita has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Duritz takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mikio Okita showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Okita's jab looks to have found its range, popping Duritz under the eye.
A combination from Okita does no damage.
Okita throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Okita wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Duritz tries a head kick but it misses.
Duritz walks into a straight right hand from Okita.

Duritz makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Duritz tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Okita's elbow.
Duritz goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Duritz's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Duritz misses with a head kick.

Both fighters circling a little - Duritz finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Okita shoots in but Duritz avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Okita ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Duritz moves away.

Duritz stalling in the clinch but Okita improves position.

Duritz clinches up with Okita and pushes him back against the cage.
Duritz tries a body shot but Okita blocks it.
Okita wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Okita is looking to break free of the clinch but Duritz has double underhooks.
Duritz tries to work over Okita's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Okita is trying to force a seperation but Duritz has the dominant position.

Okita decides to pull guard.
Duritz in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Okita is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Okita has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Duritz should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Okita has tightened it up now! Duritz should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
