Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Arnaldo Schiwazinega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexandir Berdich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schiwazinega slips under a jab from Berdich.
Berdich misses with a lunging right hand

Berdich closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Berdich has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Schiwazinega could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Berdich throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Schiwazinega throws a nice looking combination but Berdich bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

The fighters circling - Berdich throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Berdich is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Schiwazinega.
No joy there for Berdich, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Schiwazinega lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Berdich throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Berdich lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Berdich.
Berdich fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Schiwazinega manages to avoid it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Schiwazinega lands with a straight right. Berdich didn't see that one coming.

Berdich throws an overhand right that lands on Schiwazinega's shoulder, as Schiwazinega tries to avoid the shot.
Berdich throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Berdich will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A shot to the body from Berdich misses
and Schiwazinega counters with a nice uppercut.
Berdich misses with a few strikes there.
Schiwazinega throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Berdich's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Schiwazinega dives in looking to finish as Berdich flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Schiwazinega's strikes! Schiwazinega is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Berdich's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Berdich was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
