Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ricardo Pessoa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Stellings (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stellings wants to clinch

and Pessoa counters by moving into the clinch.

Pessoa has picked Stellings up - he's going for a ride! Pessoa dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

and Pessoa counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Pessoa .

Pessoa works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Stellings tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Pessoa presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Pessoa avoids the attempt from Stellings to control.
Pessoa takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pessoa seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Stellings for as long as he can get away with.
Stellings regains half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Pessoa seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Pessoa knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stellings on the ground.

Stellings moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Stellings escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pessoa gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Pessoa would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pessoa stands up over Stellings, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Stellings is looking for a triangle but Pessoa pushes his legs off easily.

A close round but Patrick Stellings will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Pessoa shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Stellings's guard.

Stellings tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Pessoa wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Pessoa is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Stellings will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Pessoa connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Stellings some visible discomfort.
Pessoa scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Stellings to see if he's OK.

Stellings is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Pessoa 's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
