PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vitalik Manjos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rusli Fighter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fighter is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Aktsuki. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Vitalik Manjos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rusli Fighter!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Aafke Stam and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fighter tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Manjos counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Manjos turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Fighter is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Manjos decides to stand up, so the ref orders Fighter to his feet.

and Manjos counters with a shoot takedown. Fighter fights it but they end up in guard.

Manjos tightens his grip and picks Fighter up, before dumping him to the ground. Fighter manages to land in guard.

Manjos seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Fighter is trying to keep Manjos in close.
Fighter lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Manjos!

Fighter wants to stand but Manjos is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.

Manjos's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Manjos tries to hold on but Fighter pushes him away.
Fighter wants to get back to his feet but Manjos is holding on tight.

Fighter avoids the attempt from Manjos to control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Manjos feints and as Fighter raises his hands in defense, Manjos changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Fighter wants to stand up but Manjos is controlling him.

Manjos wants to pass the guard but Fighter is keeping the position.
Manjos slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Manjos shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Manjos showed some decent athleticism there.
Manjos tries to pass the half guard into mount. Fighter knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Fighter has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Manjos is working away from the top position though.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Manjos lands a nice short elbow.

Manjos is taking a breather. Fighter says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Manjos is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Fighter has escaped the position, nice work there.
A lull in the action here as Manjos stalls from top position.
Fighter pushes Manjos away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Manjos gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Manjos remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Manjos feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Manjos seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Fighter for as long as he can get away with.
