The crowd seem to be enjoying Wesson's choice of entrance music: Imperial March. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dean Wesson!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Winston Alpacca and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Heke wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

and Wesson counters with a single leg into guard. Heke didn't expect that.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Wesson prevents Heke from getting back to his feet.
We've been hearing good reports from Heke's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Heke knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wesson on the ground.
Heke is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Wesson is controlling him.
Wesson passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Heke might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Heke on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Heke tries to get out of the position.

Wesson tries for a kimura but Heke is defending well.

Wesson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Heke has escaped the position, nice work there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Heke is pushing Wesson's head away, looking to escape. Wesson manages to hold on to the position though.

Wesson has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Heke is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Wesson yanks on the arm and Heke is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Wesson.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Dean Wesson!

In defeat, Jake Heke stepped up to the mic, saying 'Good fight man .. this guy was tough just didn't expect it like that.. o well next time ill set the record straight and move it up another notch and and hit em up '.
