Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ichiro Kosugi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Felipe Copello (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ichiro Kosugi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Felipe Copello!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, George Francis and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Copello controls Kosugi momentarily but Kosugi frees himself.
Copello has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Skylab Vegas. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Kosugi sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Copello's guard.

Kosugi stalling away here and it's allowed Copello to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kosugi goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Copello has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Kosugi but great work by Copello.

Copello really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kosugi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Felipe Copello is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kosugi shoots in looking for a takedown. Copello tries to sprawl out of it but Kosugi keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Copello manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Kosugi dives in for a single leg takedown but Copello sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Well Kosugi has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
