The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Balisi circles away from the clinch attempt.
Balisi misses with a takedown
and Ismail counters with a big head kick but Balisi shrugs it off.

Balisi lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Balisi throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Ismail to regain full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Balisi accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Balisi throws a strike but Ismail rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Ismail cracks Balisi with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Balisi really wants to buck Ismail off and get back to his feet.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ismail is landing with some decent strikes but Balisi is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Ismail can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Balisi is looking to escape.

Balisi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ismail on the ground.

Ismail has control of Balisi's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Balisi regains control of the situation pretty easily.
