PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roope Latvala (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexandre Ferreira Da Serra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Latvala kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Children of Bodom - Tie my rope. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alexandre Ferreira Da Serra!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Chad Campbell and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Latvala misses.

Latvala is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Latvala is looking to take a break and control but Da Serra is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Latvala uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Da Serra.
Da Serra takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.


It looks like Alexandre Ferreira Da Serra has been cut.

Latvala misses with a straight left.
Latvala rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Da Serra moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Latvala connects with a solid leg kick.
Latvala lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Latvala throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Da Serra sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Latvala lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Roope Latvala seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Da Serra misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Horrible takedown by Da Serra or perhaps it was just good defense by Latvala which made him look bad.

Latvala connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Da Serra's hands.
Latvala throws a solid leg kick but Da Serra takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Latvala.

Latvala lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

and Da Serra counters with a nice double leg into side control. Latvala won't be happy with that.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Da Serra tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Da Serra has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Da Serra tries to advance to mount but Latvala instead regains half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Latvala regains full guard. Nicely done.
Latvala wants to sweep here but Da Serra controlling him for the moment.
Latvala is working hard here to advance position.
Latvala is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Da Serra slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Da Serra drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Latvala dives on top into guard.
