Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Bryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dominick Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel Bryan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dominick Cruz!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Tiny Johnson and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bryan closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Cruz to the mat! Cruz manages to get full guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Bryan stays in close to Cruz's body and controls the position.
Bryan wants to stand but Cruz is controlling his posture from full guard.
Bryan wants to control from the top but Cruz keeps moving.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bryan accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Bryan has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Cruz is proving hard to escape from.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Daniel Bryan just wasn't active enough.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cruz can do anything to dispel that myth.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cruz should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Bryan connects with a couple of short punches.

Bryan drops back looking for a leg! Cruz is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Cruz manages to kick Bryan off! Bryan jumps back into Cruz's guard.
Bryan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Cruz is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Bryan advances position into side control!

Bryan advances to full mount.
Bryan trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Cruz tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Bryan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Bryan controlling the pace for now.

Daniel Bryan has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Cruz circles away from the clinch attempt.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bryan shoots in for a double leg but Cruz sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Bryan throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daniel Bryan dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Cruz shoots for a takedown but Bryan saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Cruz shoots in and drives through. Bryan sprawls well.

Bryan has managed to clinch.
Cruz is looking to break free of the clinch but Bryan has double underhooks.
Bryan trying to stall but Cruz improves his position.

Cruz breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Bryan misses with the combination.
Cruz shoots in for a double leg but Bryan sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Daniel Bryan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dominick Cruz.
Bryan shoots in looking for a takedown but Cruz manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bryan's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Cruz shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Cruz is breathing heavily.

Bryan manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Cruz on his heels. He'll look to pass Cruz's guard now, I'm sure.
Bryan wants to stand but Cruz is controlling his posture from full guard.

Bryan stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Bryan tries to close the distance and clinch but Cruz swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Nice sprawl there from Cruz as Bryan shoots in.
Bryan throws a head kick that misses.
Cruz is looking to clinch but Bryan is avoiding it.
Bryan tries to clinch but Cruz moves out of range.
Bryan tries to clinch up
and Cruz counters with a stiff right hand.
Cruz slips a straight right by Bryan.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cruz goes for a double leg but Bryan avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Bryan continues to drive forward.
Bryan tries to pull guard but Cruz holds him up against the cage and eventually Bryan drops back down to his feet.
Bryan drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Bryan goes for a takedown attempt but Cruz pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Bryan tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Bryan tries to clinch but Cruz is having none of it.

Bryan shoots in looking for a takedown. Cruz tries to sprawl out of it but Bryan keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cruz manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Bryan shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Cruz manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Bryan works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Bryan moves into full mount! Cruz won't be happy about that!
Bryan trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Bryan is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Bryan!
