PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Harry Bush (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Brown Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brown Jr has chosen Bill Withers - Ain't No Sunshine as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Harry Bush!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jason Brown Jr!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Luis Engracia and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown Jr tries to clinch but Bush moves away
and Bush counters with a thumping low kick.
Bush chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Brown Jr can pounce on him.
Bush is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Brown Jr.
Brown Jr scores with a spinning back kick!
Bush fails with a takedown attempt.
Bush throws a sloppy head kick and Brown Jr moves out of range easily.
Bush shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Brown Jr pinned against the cage. Brown Jr gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Brown Jr fails in his attempt to clinch.
No luck for Brown Jr with that takedown attempt.

Bush gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Bush drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Brown Jr gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Brown Jr gets control of Bush's arms and successfully pulls guard. Brown Jr will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Brown Jr working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bush doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bush manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Bush wants to control from the top but Brown Jr keeps moving.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bush is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Harry Bush.
Bush tries to score a power double leg takedown but Brown Jr sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bush somewhat.

Bush shoots in and gets a takedown into Brown Jr's guard.

Bush got a little sloppy there for a moment and Brown Jr has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bush has managed to get both his arms back between Brown Jr's legs - danger averted.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Bush passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Brown Jr is not content to let Bush control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

A close round but Jason Brown Jr will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Bush tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Brown Jr swivels and escapes.
Bush swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Bush fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Bush tries to close the distance and clinch but Brown Jr swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

so Bush counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Bush wants to control from the top but Brown Jr keeps moving.
Brown Jr not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Bush trying to control the position from guard on top but Brown Jr is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jason Brown Jr wasn't active enough on the ground.

Bush moves into the clinch.
Bush wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Harry Bush. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Brown Jr's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Bush.

Bush closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Brown Jr to the mat! Brown Jr manages to get full guard.
Brown Jr controls Bush momentarily but Bush frees himself.

Bush won't allow Brown Jr to sweep him here.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Harry Bush just wasn't active enough.
Bush throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Brown Jr's waist but Brown Jr gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bush off to one side.

Brown Jr looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Bush fails with the takedown.
Bush throws a lazy head kick
and Brown Jr counters with a body kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bush circles away from the clinch attempt.
Brown Jr tries to clinch but Bush is having none of it.

Bush will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Brown Jr tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Bush defends well and Brown Jr ends up having to push Bush into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Bush tries to pull guard but Brown Jr forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Bush's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Bush throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Brown Jr was covering up waiting for the punch and Bush finishes the takedown easily into guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Bush shoots in and gets a takedown into Brown Jr's guard.
Bush throwing strikes but missing.

Bush avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Bush slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Brown Jr is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Brown Jr wants to stand but Bush is controlling the position.
Bush wants to get up but he can't break Brown Jr's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Bush passes into half guard.
Brown Jr is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Brown Jr wants to control but Bush is keeping busy.

Bush wants to pass to mount but Brown Jr is defending the position.
Bush thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Brown Jr's head.
Bush controlling the pace.
Bush is thwarting Brown Jr's attempts to control the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Brown Jr tries to clinch but Bush is having none of it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Brown Jr shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Bush avoiding damage.
Bush tries to work over Brown Jr's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Brown Jr breaks from the clinch.

Bush closes the distance and clinches.
Brown Jr is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Bush stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Come on Brown Jr - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Brown Jr blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Bush tightens his grip and picks Brown Jr up, before dumping him to the ground. Brown Jr manages to land in guard.

Harry Bush overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bush has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

And that's the end of the fight!
