The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Masuka changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Brown looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Brown dodges the ground and pound from Masuka.
Brown is looking to regain half guard here but Masuka keeps moving and retains side control.
Brown is trying to control Masuka's posture but Masuka avoids it.
Brown tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Brown can't do much from the bottom here.
Masuka lands an elbow.
Brown is not content to let Masuka control the position.
Masuka throws a strike aimed at the side of Brown's head but Brown avoids it well.

Brown is trying to improve his position.
Masuka is looking to take a break and control but Brown is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Masuka avoids the strikes from the bottom by Brown.
What's Brown going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.
Brown tries to improve position but can't.

Masuka is trying to get an arm triangle but Brown is defending well.
The ground and pound from Masuka seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Brown can't do much from the bottom here.
Masuka has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Brown tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Masuka wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Masuka cracks Brown with a big right hand but Brown just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Masuka is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Brown knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Brown is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Masuka off and has taken his back!
Masuka controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Masuka rolls, trying to escape but Brown keeps control of the position.
Masuka looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Masuka covers up after that shot from Brown.

It looks like Vincent Masuka has been cut.

Brown lands a couple of good shots and Masuka has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Vincent Masuka's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
