Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Patsha Armani (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shinya Kawajiri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Patsha Armani!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shinya Kawajiri!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shirou Masuda and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Armani looks to land a combination but Kawajiri avoids it well.
Armani moves in looking to clinch but Kawajiri pushes him off.

Kawajiri feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Kawajiri sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Armani's guard.
Armani wants to get back to full guard.
Kawajiri is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Kawajiri blocks Armani's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Armani is trying to reverse the position but instead Kawajiri has taken his back - oops!
Kawajiri not allowing Armani to control his hands.
Armani breaks Kawajiri's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Armani pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kawajiri is keeping the position for now.
Armani has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Kawajiri pulls Armani in close to prevent any damage.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Armani accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Armani is stalling in the full guard.
Armani loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Kawajiri controls Armani momentarily but Armani frees himself.
Kawajiri avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kawajiri shoots in looking for a takedown. Armani tries to sprawl out of it but Kawajiri keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Armani manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Kawajiri looks gassed!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Armani throws a right and a left that Kawajiri avoids nicely.
Armani bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Kawajiri's head.
Kawajiri fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Armani tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Armani throws a looping overhand right but Kawajiri ducks down to avoid it.
Armani scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Armani wants to clinch up but Kawajiri keeps it at a distance.
Nice takedown defense from Armani. No joy for Kawajiri on that attempt.
Patsha Armani has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shinya Kawajiri.
Armani missing with a left hand there. Kawajiri was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Kawajiri keeps the fight on the outside.
Armani lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!


Kawajiri is rocked!

Armani closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Armani lands in his opponent's guard.

Armani stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kawajiri swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Armani connects with a couple of short punches.
Armani throws and elbow that misses. Kawajiri uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Armani's guard. Nice move by Kawajiri!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Patsha Armani dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Kawajiri with a poor takedown
and Armani counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Armani fails in his attempt to clinch.
Armani throws a body punch but Kawajiri moves out of range.
Armani tries to close the distance and clinch but Kawajiri swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kawajiri has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Armani throws out a powerful jab.

Armani rushes Kawajiri and presses him up against the cage.

Kawajiri tightens his grip and picks Armani up, before dumping him to the ground. Armani manages to land in guard.
Armani is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kawajiri trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Kawajiri won't allow Armani to sweep him here.
Armani tries to strike from the bottom.
Armani tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Armani is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Kawajiri is pressing down on Armani's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Armani's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Kawajiri is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Armani trying to stand up but can't free himself from Kawajiri's guard.
Armani tries to free his leg and advance position but Kawajiri is retaining full guard.
Kawajiri has a closed guard, preventing Armani from standing up.
Kawajiri looking for a sweep. Not yet Kawajiri, not yet.
Armani stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kawajiri swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Kawajiri takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Kawajiri gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Armani counters with a two punch combo.

Kawajiri feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Armani is trying to keep Kawajiri in close.
Armani wants to get back to his feet but Kawajiri is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Armani is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Kawajiri is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Armani throws a shot from downtown. Kawajiri moves away and avoids it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shinya Kawajiri showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Kawajiri shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Armani is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Kawajiri thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Kawajiri trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Armani controls Kawajiri momentarily but Kawajiri frees himself.
Kawajiri is fighting to break Armani's control of his arms but Armani is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Armani tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Armani lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Kawajiri!
Kawajiri avoids a series of strikes thrown by Armani.
Armani misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Kawajiri keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
BOOM! Armani connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Kawajiri tries to hold on but Armani postures up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Kawajiri is in all sorts of trouble here.

Armani is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Kawajiri is surviving well by controlling Armani's body position as best he can.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kawajiri can do anything to dispel that myth.
Kawajiri can't escape the position.

Armani scoring with strikes but Kawajiri is staying in there.
Kawajiri is bucking up trying to escape but Armani cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Armani misses with a head shot.
Kawajiri is looking to improve his position but Armani isn't that keen on the idea.
Armani controlling his opponent.
Armani has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Kawajiri's face.

And that's the end of the fight!
Patsha Armani showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Armani has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
