PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Efren Solis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Artur Dobij (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Efren Solis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Artur Dobij!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Micheangelo Fripello and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Solis tries to keep at a distance but Dobij has taken the fight into the clinch.
Dobij goes for a takedown in the clinch but Solis prevents it.
Solis wants a takedown.
A frustrated look appears on Dobij's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Dobij has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Solis is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Dobij has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Solis after a bit of a struggle.
Efren Solis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Artur Dobij.

Dobij is fighting off a takedown attempt but Solis is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Dobij to the mat. Dobij regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Solis throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Artur Dobij seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Solis is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Dobij can't fight it off and eventually Solis manages to take the fight to the floor. Dobij looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Dobij had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Solis defends it easily.

Efren Solis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Solis, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
