And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Doc Patterson!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Skip Squint and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Venkman tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Patterson swivels and escapes.
Patterson throws a shot from downtown. Venkman moves away and avoids it.
Patterson misses with a two punch combination.
Patterson throws a nice looking combination but Venkman bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Venkman wants to clinch up but Patterson keeps it at a distance.
Patterson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
No luck for Venkman with that takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Venkman closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Venkman wants to control from the top but Patterson keeps moving.

Venkman tries to free his leg and advance position but Patterson is retaining full guard.

Patterson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Venkman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Patterson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Venkman can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Patterson has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Venkman is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Patterson.

That was a close round but Peter Venkman did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it.
