Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Peter Stringer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Eriksson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stringer's entrance music is Cherokee - Europe. A fine choice. Eriksson comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Requiem For a Dream kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Ivan Eriksson will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Peter Stringer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ivan Eriksson!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Summer Carpenter and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stringer displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Eriksson throws out the jab.
Stringer misses with a body kick.
Eriksson tries to bum rush Stringer with a series of wild strikes but Stringer uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Stringer dodges the punch combination from Eriksson.
Stringer thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Eriksson if he has to take too many more of those.
Eriksson throws a hook to the side of Stringer's head but Stringer sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Ivan Eriksson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Eriksson has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Stringer is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Eriksson.
Stringer is looking to take a break and control but Eriksson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Stringer goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Eriksson turns into him and now he's in Stringer's guard.
Stringer bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Eriksson's guard.

Eriksson has his foot on Stringer's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Stringer works his way back into a safe position though.

Stringer drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Stringer jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Eriksson drops back looking for a leg! Stringer is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Stringer manages to kick Eriksson off! Eriksson jumps back into Stringer's guard.
Eriksson advances to half guard.
Stringer flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Eriksson decides to stand and escape the position.
Eriksson misses with the combination.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Peter Stringer will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Eriksson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Stringer backs up against the cage.
Stringer moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Stringer throws a head kick but Eriksson moves out of range.
Eriksson misses with a wild combination.
Eriksson scores with a one two! Stringer had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Stringer fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Eriksson.
Eriksson jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Eriksson throws a left and a right that both miss
and Stringer counters with a good low kick that Eriksson was not able to check.
A telegraphed right hand from Eriksson misses the target.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

and Stringer counters with a head kick.
Stringer throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Eriksson's waist but Eriksson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Stringer off to one side.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Eriksson.
Eriksson tries to land a front kick but Stringer steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Stringer wants to slow Eriksson down by chopping away at his legs.
Eriksson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Eriksson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Eriksson loads up on a big right hand but Stringer slips the punch.
Eriksson lands with a nice combination. Stringer backs away looking to recover.

and Stringer counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Stringer.

Eriksson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Eriksson tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Stringer has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Eriksson to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Stringer is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Eriksson pulls down on the head and he's put Stringer to sleep! This one is all over!
