Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mao Zedong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lonnie Poon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Zedong might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to March Of The Volunteers . The crowd seem to be enjoying Poon's choice of entrance music: Jerk It Out-Caesars. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mao Zedong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lonnie Poon!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Jorge Garcia and Chad Campbell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice leg kick lands there from Zedong.
Poon dives in and grabs Zedong's left leg, looking for a takedown. Zedong pushes down on Poon's head and hops out.
Zedong stuffs the takedown.
Poon on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Zedong slips a jab from Poon.
We've been told by Zedong's head coaches at The Beast that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Poon lands a lovely overhand right.
Poon tries for a takedown but Zedong sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Poon shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Zedong pinned against the cage. Zedong gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Poon changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Zedong tries to avoid it but Poon manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Zedong to the ground. Zedong escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Poon holds on to Zedong around his waist, trying desperately to prevent any attacks.
Poon has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Zedong is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Zedong is taking a breather. Poon says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Zedong wants to control but Poon is keeping him busy.

Poon bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Zedong manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Poon manages to get himself to full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
