The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Smith misses.
sherman shoots in but Smith avoids the takedown attempt easily.
sherman fails to land the takedown.
sherman tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Smith paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Smith throws a sloppy head kick and sherman moves out of range easily.
sherman tries to clinch there but Smith circles away.
Smith shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has sherman pinned against the cage. sherman gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Smith looks gassed!
The fight stays on the outside here - sherman looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Smith counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

sherman has hold of Smith's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Smith manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
sherman tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

sherman with shots to the head and body - Smith looks very uncomfortable down there.
sherman jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Smith manages to avoid the submission attempt.
sherman has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Smith is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. sherman yanks on the arm and Smith is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by sherman.
