PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Craig Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Udo Hitzlsperger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anderson kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The High Road. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Craig Anderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Udo Hitzlsperger!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Yves DeLean and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anderson moves out of range of the body kick from Hitzlsperger.
Hitzlsperger's corner calls for a 1-2. Hitzlsperger obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Hitzlsperger has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Hitzlsperger tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Anderson was well out of range. Poor timing from Hitzlsperger.
Anderson looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Anderson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hitzlsperger throws a left and a right that both miss

and Anderson counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Anderson blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Anderson drags the fight down to the ground.
Anderson wants to sweep but no luck.
Anderson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hitzlsperger's guard.
Hitzlsperger looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Hitzlsperger is trying to keep Anderson in close.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Udo Hitzlsperger wasn't active enough on the ground.
Anderson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hitzlsperger defends it nicely.
Hitzlsperger throws a head kick but Anderson moves out of range.
Hitzlsperger misses with a jab, cross combination.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Anderson checks a leg kick.
Udo Hitzlsperger is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Anderson fails with a takedown attempt.
Hitzlsperger keeps the fight on the outside.
Hitzlsperger is looking to slow Anderson down with leg kicks.
Hitzlsperger tests Anderson's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Hitzlsperger lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Hitzlsperger has managed to clinch.

Anderson successfully pulls guard.
Anderson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Anderson advances position into side control!
Anderson taking a break here but Hitzlsperger is having none of it and regains half guard.
Hitzlsperger is staying active underneath Anderson, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Anderson is looking for a kimura but Hitzlsperger is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Anderson to get the leverage.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Udo Hitzlsperger will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Hitzlsperger is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Anderson.
Anderson looks for a takedown but Hitzlsperger sprawls well.
Hitzlsperger swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nice body punch from Hitzlsperger.
Anderson walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Hitzlsperger checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Udo Hitzlsperger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hitzlsperger ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Anderson moves away.

A chopping leg kick lands by Anderson.
Anderson blocks a jab.
Anderson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Anderson.
Hitzlsperger throws a sloppy head kick and Anderson moves out of range easily.

Hitzlsperger rushes Anderson and presses him up against the cage.
Hitzlsperger scores with a shot to the side of Anderson's head.
Hitzlsperger misses with a punch on the inside.
Hitzlsperger throws a head punch that misses.
Hitzlsperger throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Andersons head.

Hitzlsperger has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Anderson is trying to keep an underhook but Hitzlsperger manages to get the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hitzlsperger is thwarting Anderson's attempts to control the position.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Hitzlsperger is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Anderson is just riding it out for now. Hitzlsperger eventually gives up the hold.

Hitzlsperger seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Anderson is looking to improve his position.
Anderson gets back to full guard.

Hitzlsperger got a little sloppy there for a moment and Anderson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hitzlsperger has managed to get both his arms back between Anderson's legs - danger averted.
Anderson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Hitzlsperger trying to control the position from guard on top but Anderson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Anderson controls Hitzlsperger momentarily but Hitzlsperger frees himself.

Hitzlsperger controls from within his opponent's guard.
Hitzlsperger pushes down on Anderson's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Hitzlsperger throws a strike but Anderson manages to get a kimura sweep and he's found himself on top with the kimura half locked in! This would be a real turnaround! He's torquing it... Will Hitzlsperger tap??? YES! He's tapped! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Craig Anderson!
