Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Randy Lahey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Knack Wupp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Knack Wupp acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Randy Lahey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Knack Wupp!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Dirk Anderson and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wupp misses with a takedown

and Lahey holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Wupp misses with the head strike.
Wupp is trying to break the clinch but Lahey is controlling him.
Lahey tries for a takedown. No joy.
Lahey tries to land a knee to the head but Wupp blocks with his arms.
Lahey could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Wupp is trying to pull guard but Lahey turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Lahey has picked Wupp up - he's going for a ride! Lahey dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Lahey looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Lahey is trying to control the action in half guard but Wupp is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Lahey looking to pass the guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Lahey's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Wupp keeping moving, preventing Lahey from controlling successfully.

Wupp is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Wupp working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Lahey.
Wupp utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Lahey looking to pass the guard.
Lahey looking to sit in guard and control but Wupp gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Wupp controls from within his opponent's guard.

Wupp drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Wupp jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Lahey is controlling Wupp's posture.
Wupp trying to control but Lahey is working from the bottom.
Lahey is trying to keep Wupp in close.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Lahey shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Wupp manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Wupp working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lahey doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lahey manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Lahey cracks Wupp with a solid left hand.
Lahey throws a big right hand that misses.
Lahey connects with a couple of short punches.
Wupp seems keen to control Lahey's posture.
Wupp preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Wupp is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lahey defends well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lahey scoring with some ground and pound.
Lahey knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wupp on the ground.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lahey makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Lahey is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Lahey trying to control the position from guard on top but Wupp is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lahey accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lahey lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Lahey makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Lahey throws an elbow that misses. Wupp uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Lahey's guard. Nice move by Wupp!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Randy Lahey dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Wupp shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Lahey counters with a straight right hand.
Lahey displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Wupp.
Lahey lands a jab to the nose.

Lahey fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Wupp, pushing him back against the cage.
Wupp is pressed up against the cage. Lahey has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Wupp down to the mat. Wupp avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Lahey closes the distance and clinches.
Lahey tries for a takedown. No joy.
Wupp is trying to force a seperation but Lahey has the dominant position.
A short left from Lahey.

Wupp jumps into guard, dragging Lahey to the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lahey postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Wupp is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Lahey, into his guard.
Wupp won't allow Lahey to get back to his feet.
Randy Lahey overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Wupp controlling from the top position.
Lahey keeping full guard, as Wupp tries to pass.
Wupp seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Wupp trying to control but Lahey is working from the bottom.
Lahey wants to stand and escape but Wupp is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Knack Wupp has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Wupp enables Lahey to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Wupp manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Lahey wants to control from the top but Wupp keeps moving.
Wupp keeping full guard, as Lahey tries to pass.
Lahey throws a big right hand that misses.
Lahey is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Wupp looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Lahey is defending well. Wupp quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Lahey has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Wupp celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Knack Wupp!
