Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Olivier Levasseur (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nate Kingston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kingston is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: 2pac - I'm Soulja. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Olivier Levasseur!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, Nate Kingston!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Kingston as Levasseur shoots in.
Levasseur slips a jab and a cross from Kingston.
Levasseur tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kingston swivels and escapes.
Nate Kingston seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kingston lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Levasseur circles away quickly and effectively.
Kingston fails in his attempt to clinch.
Kingston connects with the punch.
No joy there for Kingston, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kingston shoots in for a double leg but Levasseur sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Kingston looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Levasseur takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Kingston throws a combination. Levasseur tries to block but a couple of punches get through.


It looks like Olivier Levasseur has been cut.
Kingston wants to clinch up but Levasseur keeps it at a distance.
Good exchange - Kingston coming out on top.

Kingston looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Levasseur enables Kingston to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Levasseur manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
We've been hearing good reports from Levasseur's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kingston looking to sit in guard and control but Levasseur gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Levasseur connects with a nice short shot to Kingston's temple.

Kingston wants to control but Levasseur is keeping busy.
Levasseur seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kingston does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Levasseur is keen to just control but Kingston is a slippery customer.
Kingston felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Levasseur is nestled in close to Kingston, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Kingston is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Levasseur pulls his head out easily.
Levasseur has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kingston wants to control but Levasseur is keeping busy.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Levasseur is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kingston is just riding it out for now. Levasseur eventually gives up the hold.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Nate Kingston will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Olivier Levasseur's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Levasseur avoids a punch combination nicely.
Kingston lands with a kick to the temple. Levasseur shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Kingston lands with a nice combination. Levasseur backs away looking to recover.

Levasseur feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Kingston is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Levasseur keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kingston's head.

Levasseur is pushing down on Kingston's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kingston is fighting to maintain full guard but Levasseur has managed to sneak the leg through.

Kingston working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Levasseur doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Levasseur manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Levasseur tries to free his leg and advance position but Kingston is retaining full guard.

Levasseur is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Kingston has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Levasseur is looking to defend but Kingston has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Levasseur! Kingston pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Levasseur taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Nate Kingston!
During a confident post fight interview, Nate Kingston thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
