PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Roberts Junior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ramon Marcelo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Junior comes into the arena with Apenas Mais Uma de Amor blaring out of the sound system. Ramon Marcelo will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ramon Marcelo!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Seu Braga and Thiago Cunha.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marcelo blocks a head kick by Junior.
Marcelo thows a body shot but no joy.
Marcelo dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Marcelo misses with a wild body shot.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Junior moves into the clinch.
Marcelo tries to break the clinch but Junior is controlling the position.
Junior is trying to drag Marcelo to the mat but Marcelo just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Marcelo tries to circle away but Junior has him pinned against the cage.
Junior tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Marcelo smiles and moves away.
Marcelo leaves Junior with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roberts Junior. That's going to take a lot out of him.

It looks like Roberts Junior has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Oooooh!!! Marcelo has knocked Junior down with a huge combo! Marcelo steps away and waves a wobbly Junior back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Junior is rocked!
Marcelo swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Junior moves out of range of the strikes.
Junior looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Marcelo is fending him off so far but Junior persists. Nope, Marcelo circles away and we're back to standing.

Junior closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Marcelo's guard.
Junior is pushing down on Marcelo's leg trying to pass to half guard. Marcelo is fighting to maintain full guard but Junior has managed to sneak the leg through.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Junior is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Marcelo doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Junior.

Junior is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Marcelo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Junior. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Junior maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Marcelo could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Junior has cracked it and Marcelo is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Junior!

A relieved looking Roberts Junior thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
