PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bernard Gilliam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Lee Pettimore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pettimore comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Copperhead Road kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gilliam.
Gilliam goes for a double leg but Pettimore avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Pettimore continues to drive forward.

Gilliam breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gilliam darts in looking for a takedown but Pettimore gets double underhooks and turns Gilliam into the cage.
Pettimore looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bernard Gilliam. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Gilliam breaks the clinch.
Gilliam gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Gilliam shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Pettimore napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Pettimore pushes Gilliam away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Gilliam gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Pettimore is looking to get back to his feet here but Gilliam is keeping cool and he's managed to take Pettimore's back.

Gilliam has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Pettimore is defending well but eventually Gilliam manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Pettimore has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
