Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mike Hunt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny LaRusso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hunt's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Why Do Good Girls Like Bad Guys?. LaRusso has chosen You're The Best! as his entrance music. Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Johnny LaRusso!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunt fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Hunt shoots in but no luck this time.
Hunt throws an off balance right hand
and LaRusso counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
LaRusso displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Hunt throws out the jab.
Hunt misses with a looping right.
Hunt is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by LaRusso.

Hunt throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. LaRusso was covering up waiting for the punch and Hunt finishes the takedown easily into guard.
LaRusso wants to sweep but no luck.
Hunt throws a big elbow that misses.
Hunt has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

LaRusso keeping moving, preventing Hunt from controlling successfully.
Hunt with a flurry of punches that miss.
Hunt missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Hunt's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

LaRusso is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

LaRusso pushes down on Hunt's leg and manages to get into half guard.
LaRusso tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Hunt is looking to control LaRusso's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hunt avoid being mounted?

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

LaRusso connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Hunt's hands.

Hunt misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Hunt closes this distance looking for a takedown but LaRusso circles away.

Hunt shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. LaRusso manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

LaRusso wants to get back to his feet but Hunt is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Hunt throws a strike but LaRusso rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Mike Hunt overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Hunt is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Hunt wants to improve his position but instead LaRusso has moved into half guard.
Hunt slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
LaRusso must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Hunt might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Hunt looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! LaRusso has picked Hunt up and slammed him! Hunt can't keep hold of the triangle and LaRusso manages to pass to side control!

Hunt has his hands on LaRusso's head, controlling the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Hunt dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


LaRusso fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hunt manages to avoid it.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hunt.
Hunt changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. LaRusso tries to avoid it but Hunt manages to keep hold of a leg and drag LaRusso to the ground. LaRusso escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Hunt misses with a straight right.
Hunt shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts LaRusso as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Hunt. That's going to take a lot out of him.
LaRusso staying out of range there.
Hunt tries for a takedown but LaRusso sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Hunt tries to score a power double leg takedown but LaRusso sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hunt somewhat.
LaRusso lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hunt circles away quickly and effectively.

LaRusso lands with a shot to the body.
Hunt swings widly with a right hand
and LaRusso counters with a right hand to the body.
Hunt fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
LaRusso ducks under a wild hook from Hunt.
Hunt shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has LaRusso pinned against the ropes. LaRusso gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Hunt is really struggling to find his range with his punches. LaRusso's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Hunt throws a right and a left that LaRusso avoids nicely.
Hunt misses with an uppercut
and LaRusso counters with a right hand to the body.
LaRusso feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Hunts jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!


It looks like Mike Hunt has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

LaRusso lands a big head kick that sends Hunt tumbling to the mat! LaRusso takes a step backwards and waves Hunt back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Hunt is rocked!
Hunt shoots for a takedown but LaRusso saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Hunt steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from LaRusso. That one must have hurt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A telegraphed right hand from Hunt misses the target.

LaRusso lands a big head kick that sends Hunt tumbling to the mat! LaRusso takes a step backwards and waves Hunt back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Oh Hunt is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
LaRusso lands an uppercut, right on the button! Hunt tumbles backwards into the ropes, staring vacantly into space! He's got no idea where he is, who he is or what day it is... Poor guy.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:19 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Johnny LaRusso!
