Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sid Cotton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kurt Shamrock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shamrock has chosen Raining Blood - Slayer as his entrance music. Kurt Shamrock has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sid Cotton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kurt Shamrock!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Elvis Blanc and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cotton shoots in and bounces Shamrock off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Shamrock controlling the position.
Cotton preventing the sweep.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Cotton moves into the clinch.
Cotton is looking to break free of the clinch but Shamrock has double underhooks.
Shamrock tries to score a body lock takedown but Cotton shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Shamrock is working for takedown but Cotton is calmly controlling the position for now.
Cotton really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Shamrock is trying to drag Cotton to the mat but Cotton just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Sid Cotton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kurt Shamrock.

Cotton prevents the takedown attempt.
Cotton stalls.
Shamrock looking for a takedown.
Cotton has had enough of the clinch but Shamrock keeps him there for the moment.
Shamrock misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Cotton.
Cotton prevents a takedown attempt there.
Shamrock is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Cotton pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Cotton is trying to force a seperation but Shamrock has the dominant position.

Shamrock wants to pass the guard but Cotton is keeping the position.
Shamrock is looking to work some ground and pound but Cotton has wrist control.
Shamrock is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Shamrock throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Shamrock passes Cotton's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Cotton knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Shamrock on the ground.
Shamrock slows the pace down in half guard.
Shamrock not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Shamrock is trying to work for a kimura but Cotton is defending well.

Shamrock gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Shamrock looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cotton is one step ahead there.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Shamrock lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Cotton!

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Shamrock gets caught napping as Cotton dives in and scores a takedown. Shamrock manages to retain guard.
Kurt Shamrock has got the better of the ground game so far.
Shamrock is controlling Cotton's posture.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Shamrock looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Cotton has picked Shamrock up and slammed him! Shamrock can't keep hold of the triangle and Cotton manages to pass to side control!
Shamrock tries to bench press Cotton off him but Cotton keeps the position.
Shamrock manages to get back to half guard.

Shamrock makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Shamrock.

Shamrock has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cotton can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Shamrock has his hands on Cotton's head, controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shamrock looking for a sweep. Not yet Shamrock, not yet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shamrock is still trying to improve position.

Sid Cotton has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Shamrock gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Shamrock is pulling down on Cotton's head. It's preventing any offense from Cotton, at least for the moment.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Cotton scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Shamrock manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kurt Shamrock showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Cotton gets a takedown into half guard.
Shamrock is staying active underneath Cotton, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Shamrock moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Shamrock has Cotton pulled in close to control his posture.

We're going to have a standup here because Sid Cotton wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Cotton closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Shamrock did well to prevent Cotton getting side control.
Shamrock slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Shamrock is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Shamrock controls Cotton momentarily but Cotton frees himself.

Sid Cotton has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Cotton shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Shamrock manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Shamrock thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Shamrock is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Shamrock pulls Cotton in close to his closed guard and prevents Cotton from doing any damage or advancing position.
Kurt Shamrock is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Sid Cotton wasn't doing enough on the ground.
No joy there for Cotton, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
