Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Patrick Caldwell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simen Just (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Simen Just will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Patrick Caldwell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Simen Just!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Daniel Blasius and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Just moves to clinch but Caldwell breaks away

and Caldwell moves into the clinch.
Just is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Caldwell gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Caldwell pulls Just into guard.
Caldwell is controlling Just's posture.

Caldwell manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Caldwell is trying to push Just away but Just has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Just gets underhooks to prevent Caldwell's takedown attempt.
Just wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Just has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Caldwell is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Just connects with a knee to the head.
Caldwell stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Just fails to pull guard.

Just is trying to force a seperation but Caldwell has the dominant position.
Just pushes Caldwell back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Just drops down looking for an ankle pick but Caldwell pulls his leg out and moves away.
Caldwell goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Caldwell closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Caldwell lands in his opponent's guard.
Caldwell might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Just is trying to control the position but Caldwell postures up.

Just has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Caldwell slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Just gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Caldwell moves into the clinch.
Caldwell wants a takedown.
Just tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Caldwell just stands there and leans against the cage.

Just jumps guard.
Just being controlled here, momentarily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Just escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Caldwell gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Just wants to sweep here but Caldwell controlling him for the moment.

Caldwell lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Just is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Just controls Caldwell momentarily but Caldwell frees himself.
Caldwell slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Caldwell has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Patrick Caldwell just wasn't active enough.
Just doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Caldwell counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Caldwell gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Just regains guard.
Caldwell passes Just's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Caldwell performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Just throws the kick towards the body but Caldwell avoids it.
Caldwell tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Caldwell drags the fight down to the ground.
Just trying to control but Caldwell is working from the bottom.
Just throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Caldwell works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Caldwell uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Just shoots and misses

and Caldwell counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Caldwell.
Caldwell is looking to break free of the clinch but Just has double underhooks.
Caldwell prevents Just from breaking the clinch.
Just is trying to pull guard but Caldwell has him pressed against the cage.
Patrick Caldwell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Simen Just.
Just drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Just is pressed up against the cage. Caldwell has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Just down to the mat. Just avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

and Caldwell counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Caldwell has Just pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Caldwell pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Just tumbling to the mat - Caldwell dives into Just's guard.
Caldwell makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Caldwell has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Caldwell drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Caldwell jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Caldwell controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Just is working an open guard so Caldwell takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Caldwell has clasped his hands together around Just's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Caldwell content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Caldwell's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

and Caldwell holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Caldwell goes for a takedown attempt but Just pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Caldwell swats away the attempt to clinch by Just.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Caldwell fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Just to the ground. Caldwell is now in Just's guard.
Just has momentary wrist control but Caldwell slips an elbow through the middle.
Caldwell distracts Just with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Caldwell connects with a couple of short punches.
Just wants to improve his position but instead Caldwell has moved into half guard.
Caldwell passes to full mount!
Caldwell controlling his opponent.

Just taking shots to the head.
Just wants to hold on but Caldwell pushes him away.

Caldwell has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Just's face.

Caldwell throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Just has his hands clasped together but Caldwell breaks the hold and Just is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Caldwell!
