Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rob Darrell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Barretta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Rob Darrell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Dan Barretta!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, William Gold and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barretta circles away from the clinch attempt.
Darrell misses with a takedown attempt - Barretta sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Darrell throws a front kick that sends Barretta stumbling back into the ropes.

Darrell bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Barretta sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Darrell prevents Barretta from improving his position.
Darrell is thwarting Barretta's attempts to control the position.
Darrell missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Darrell throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Darrell advances to half guard.

It looks like Darrell is going to stand back up.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Darrell wants to work for an arm triangle but Barretta is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

It looks like Darrell is going to stand back up.
Barretta has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Darrell is working away from the top position though.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Darrell stuffs the takedown attempt from Barretta. Barretta gets slowly back to his feet.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Darrell is looking to stand up but Barretta won't let him.

Darrell is working for a kimura but Barretta is defending it quite comfortably.
Darrell has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Barretta wants to control but Darrell is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Darrell wants to lay and pray for a moment but Barretta keeps working.

Barretta bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Darrell's guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Rob Darrell will probably get the nod.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Barretta shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Darrell as he jumps to the side.

and Barretta counters with a single leg into guard. Darrell didn't expect that.
Darrell is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

I really don't envy Barretta right now.
Darrell gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.

Darrell is looking for a rear naked choke here but Barretta reverses the position brilliantly into Darrell's guard!
Darrell can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Barretta controls the pace.

Barretta content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Darrell has locked up a guillotine! Darrell's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Barretta is holding on here and Darrell must be using up a lot of energy. Barretta has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Darrell gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
