The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Makaveli tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but garcia paws at him with a jab and circles away.

garcia closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.
garcia lands with a short head shot on the inside.

It looks like Eddy Makaveli has been cut.

garcia breaks from the clinch.

garcia rushes Makaveli and presses him up against the ropes.
Makaveli wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

garcia breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

garcia moves into range and clinches up with Makaveli.
Makaveli is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the ropes.
garcia lands with a left to the head.
Makaveli jumps guard but garcia stands there with Makaveli around his waist. Makaveli gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - garcia has eaten all the pies!

Makaveli shoots for a double leg takedown but garcia sprawls well. He's pushed Makaveli's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

garcia turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and garcia manages to end up in side control.
Makaveli tries to bench press garcia off him but garcia keeps the position.
Makaveli is breathing heavily.
garcia tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Makaveli tries to get back to half guard but can't.
You can see the frustration on Makaveli's face as garcia controls the position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Makaveli is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Makaveli is looking for a sweep.
garcia really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Makaveli. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

garcia feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Makaveli working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. garcia doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. garcia manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Makaveli had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. garcia is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Makaveli Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take garcia's back instead.
Makaveli will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

garcia is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Makaveli off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Makaveli is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. garcia knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften garcia for a finish.

Makaveli is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
You can see the frustration on garcia's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

garcia has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Makaveli regains guard immediately.
Makaveli wants to stand and escape but garcia is having none of it.
