PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Heavy Damage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damien Lok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Damage comes into the arena with LMFAO Mash up blaring out of the sound system. Lok has chosen Butthole Surfers - Pepper as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Heavy Damage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Damien Lok!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lok doesn't manage to clinch there - Damage circles away.
Damage tries to clinch but Lok moves out of range.
Lok lands the left hand.
Lok catches Damage with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Lok jabs Damage to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Damage connects with a solid leg kick.
Damage turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Lok throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Damage closes the distance looking to clinch
and Lok makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Lok throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Damage throws a head kick that half lands.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Damage drops his hands momentarily and Lok takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Damage takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Damage tries to clinch up.
Lok gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Damage counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Lok scores with a jab to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Damage needs to keep his hands up - Lok had a free shot at his head there.
Lok will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Lok uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Damage.
Damage feints and then cracks Lok's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Lok down.
Lok just misses with a punch to the body.
Damage tries to land a front kick but Lok steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Damage missing with a left hand there. Lok was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Damage on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Lok swinging wildly here.
Damage throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Lok looks to land a right hand but Damage moved out of range.
Damage stuffs the takedown attempt from Lok. Lok gets slowly back to his feet.

Lok gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Lok misses with some punches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lok misses with a hook to the ribs.
Lok blocking some punches.
Damage lands an uppercut.
Lok has Damage pushed against the cage.
Damage lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Lok displaying some good clinch control by pressing Damage up against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Damage fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Damage blocks a body shot from Lok.
Lok tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Lok throws a punch but it's blocked by Damage.
A shot in the inside from Lok.
Damage wants to stall.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Damage creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.


Lok is rocked!
Damage throws a head punch that misses.
Lok is still on wobbly legs! Can Damage finish him?
Lok has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Damage blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Damage swings away with an uppercut that misses.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Damage.
Damage tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Damage managing to block the knees to the body from Lok.
Damage swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Damage has a couple of punches blocked by Lok.

Lok wants to stall.
Damage misses with some punches.
Damage fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Lok seems to have recovered his senses.
Damage swings wildly with an uppercut but Lok uses good head movement to avoid it.

Lok drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Heavy Damage has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Damien Lok.
Damage blocks a body shot from Lok.
Damage's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Damage.
Lok throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Damage is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

A short right from Lok.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Lok goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Damage throws a head punch that misses.
Damage misses with some punches.
Lok tries to stall but Damage uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Lok scores with a shot to the side of Damage's head.
Damage misses with a hook from the clinch.
Damage misses with a hook from the clinch.
Lok blocking some punches.
Lok tries a body shot but Damage blocks it.
Lok swings wildly with an uppercut but Damage uses good head movement to avoid it.
Lok lands with a left to the head.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Damien Lok will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Thud! ouch! good body kick from Damage - that will leave a mark!
Heavy Damage is winning the standup battle so far.
Lok throws a big shot that misses.
Lok checks a leg kick nicely.
A bone on bone clash there as Lok blocks the leg kick.
Damage waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Lok.
Lok is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Lok misses with a wild body shot.
Lok swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Damage throws a front kick aimed at Lok's knee but Lok avoids it well.
Lok takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Damage with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Lok to score with a decent uppercut.
Lok throws out a powerful jab.
Lok throws a right hand that Damage ducks under and follows up with a left that Damage also avoids with ease.
Damage walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Damage on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Lok throws a nice looking combination but Damage bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Lok throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Damage.
Lok misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Lok drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Damage is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Rush Training Facility, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Damage wants to control but Lok postures up.
Damage might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Damage is looking for a sweep.
Damage is working hard here to advance position.
Damage prevents Lok from improving position.
Damage tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Lok fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Lok working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Lok wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Damage, who protects the arm well.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lok misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Lok is looking to take a break and control but Damage is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Lok throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Lok missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Lok prevents Damage from improving his position.

Lok is working for a kimura but Damage is defending it quite comfortably.
Damage is trying to get back to full guard.
Damage is looking to control Lok's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Damage avoid being mounted?

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Damage wants to improve his position but Lok is controlling well.
Lok looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Damage with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Lok wants to lay and pray for a moment but Damage keeps working.
Damage gets full guard.
Lok postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Lok won't allow Damage to sweep him here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Damage keeping moving, preventing Lok from controlling successfully.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Damage wants to sweep but no luck.
Lok with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Damien Lok showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Damage blocks a jab.
Damage uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Lok.
Damage loads up on a big right hand but Lok slips the punch.
Nice body kick from Damage.
Damage throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Damage takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Lok throws a shot from downtown. Damage moves away and avoids it.
Lok tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Damage manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Lok misses with an uppercut.
Damage dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Lok. That did some damage!
Lok bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Damage enables Lok to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Damage manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Damage working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lok doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lok manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Lok lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Damage keeping moving, preventing Lok from controlling successfully.
Damage not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Damage looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Lok throwing strikes from guard but Damage blocks nicely.
Lok forces his way into half guard.
Damage on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Lok throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Lok is working for a submission of some sort.
Heavy Damage has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Lok trying to control from half guard but Damage is working away.

Lok throws a strike but Damage manages to get a kimura sweep and he's found himself on top with the kimura half locked in! This would be a real turnaround! He's torquing it... Will Lok tap??? YES! He's tapped! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:43 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Heavy Damage!
After the fight, Heavy Damage was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
