Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ashton Cryer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leon DeLaurier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leon DeLaurier has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ashton Cryer!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Leon DeLaurier!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cryer fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

DeLaurier closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Cryer is looking to escape.

DeLaurier is trying to work for a kimura but Cryer is defending well.
Nice strikes from DeLaurier there.
Cryer wants to get back to his feet.
DeLaurier throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
DeLaurier throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw DeLaurier working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Cryer is staying active underneath DeLaurier, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
DeLaurier seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
DeLaurier wants to pass the guard but Cryer is defending well.
DeLaurier thows a huge punch but Cryer dodges it nicely.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
DeLaurier got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cryer has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, DeLaurier has managed to get both his arms back between Cryer's legs - danger averted.

Leon DeLaurier has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Cryer closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. DeLaurier quickly recovers to half guard.

DeLaurier is defending against the submission attempts here by Cryer.
DeLaurier really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cryer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
DeLaurier pushes Cryer off looking to stand but Cryer dives back in and keeps control.

Cryer wants to free his trapped foot but DeLaurier is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Leon DeLaurier dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


DeLaurier throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Cryer on the side of the head.


It looks like Ashton Cryer has been cut.

DeLaurier closes the distance and pushes Cryer back into the cage.
Cryer wants to stall.
DeLaurier is defending well against a takedown attempt.

DeLaurier gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
DeLaurier controlling from the top position.
DeLaurier throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cryer works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
DeLaurier not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
DeLaurier passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Cryer sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

DeLaurier is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cryer is just riding it out for now. DeLaurier eventually gives up the hold.
Leon DeLaurier has got the better of the ground game so far.
DeLaurier throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
DeLaurier with the ground and pound but Cryer uses the opportunity to regain guard.

DeLaurier drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Cryer dives on top into guard.
DeLaurier is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if DeLaurier can do anything to dispel that myth.

Nice takedown defense from DeLaurier. No joy for Cryer on that attempt.
Cryer shoots in and drives through. DeLaurier sprawls well.

DeLaurier throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Cryer tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. DeLaurier is in Cryer's guard.
DeLaurier stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cryer swivels though and keeps the full guard.

DeLaurier is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Cryer still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Cryer has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

DeLaurier is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
DeLaurier is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Cryer's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Cryer's back!
Cryer is trying to remain composed but DeLaurier is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.
You can see the frustration on Cryer's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - DeLaurier's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

DeLaurier cracks Cryer with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Cryer from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
Cryer tries to escape but DeLaurier has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
DeLaurier has Cryer flattened out and is raining down punches.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

DeLaurier lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Cryer hold on?!


Cryer is rocked!

Oh Cryer is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
DeLaurier lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by DeLaurier.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
DeLaurier connects with a couple of big shots that have Cryer covering up! Oh, this looks bad for Cryer! DeLaurier fires away with several more unanswered shots and the referee has no choice but to step in! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Leon DeLaurier!

After winning the bout, Leon DeLaurier thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
