Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rafael Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Granger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rafael Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James Granger!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Seu Braga and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva scores with a crisp jab that stopped Granger in his tracks.
Silva bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Granger's head.
Granger shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Silva as he avoids it easily.

Silva has Granger up against the cage in a clinch.
Granger tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Silva just stands there and leans against the cage.
Silva lands with a left to the head.
Silva scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Silva lands an uppercut.
Silva misses with some punches.
Silva fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Granger tries to pull guard but Silva forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Granger jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Silva walks away with a smile on his face. Granger gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Granger tries for a takedown but Silva sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Rafael Silva is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Granger gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Silva.
Silva tries to clinch but Granger is having none of it.

and Silva counters with a left and a right that stings Granger.

Granger fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Granger takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Granger closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Silva did well to prevent Granger getting side control.
Granger wants to take a breather but Silva is having none of it.

Granger working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Granger is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Granger winds up and cracks Silva with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Granger is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
My spies in Brophy's Evil Troid Academy (BETA) inform me that Granger has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Silva looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Silva definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Granger is looking for submissions but instead, Silva has regained full guard.
Silva preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Granger slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Rafael Silva will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Granger dives in for a single leg takedown but Silva sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Granger looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Granger jumps guard but Silva stands there with Granger around his waist. Granger gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Let's hope that Granger has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Silva will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Granger throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Silva's waist but Silva gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Granger off to one side.
James Granger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's time! Silva's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Silva throws a nice looking combination but Granger bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Silva is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Silva's corner calls for a 1-2. Silva obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Granger shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Silva but Silva pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Silva shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Granger eats them both and turns towards Silva to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Granger is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Silva knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Granger takes a little break here. Silva wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Granger tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Granger has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

James Granger comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Granger has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
