Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Darron Carlson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Travis LaRon!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Winston Howard and Chris Dean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

LaRon gets the takedown into side control.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Carlson struggling a bit here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carlson is trying to improve his position.
Carlson wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Carlson wants to control but LaRon postures up.

Carlson is looking for a sweep.

LaRon has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

LaRon clinches.
LaRon's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Carlson decides to pull guard.
Carlson really is a fat lump.
Carlson wants to stand but LaRon is controlling the position.

LaRon decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Carlson, up you get!

LaRon shoots in and bounces Carlson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

LaRon decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

LaRon has managed to clinch.

LaRon breaks from the clinch.

Carlson tries for a takedown but LaRon circles away easily

and LaRon counters by moving into the clinch.

Carlson successfully pulls guard.

Carlson is working an open guard so LaRon takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

LaRon has managed to clinch.

LaRon jumps guard and drags Carlson to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Carlson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Carlson stands up from guard. Let's bang!

LaRon fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Carlson to the ground. LaRon is now in Carlson's guard.
LaRon tries to stand but Carlson is controlling from the bottom.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

LaRon stands and steps away. Carlson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

LaRon takes the fight into the clinch.

LaRon ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. LaRon no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
LaRon keeping moving, preventing Carlson from controlling successfully.
LaRon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carlson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

LaRon has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Carlson has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Travis LaRon dominated that round.

LaRon swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Carlson.

Carlson rushes LaRon and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Carlson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. LaRon smiles and moves away.
Good leg kick by LaRon there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
No joy there for LaRon, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Horrible takedown by Carlson or perhaps it was just good defense by LaRon which made him look bad.
Carlson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Darron Carlson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

LaRon looking to score a takedown here. Carlson is defending well but LaRon drives through and ends up in Carlson's guard.
LaRon wants to get up but he can't break Carlson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
LaRon gets to his feet - Carlson follows without any prompting.
LaRon misses with a two punch combination.
Carlson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts LaRon as he jumps to the side.

LaRon dives in and scores a takedown into Carlson's guard.

Carlson wants to stand up but LaRon is controlling him.

LaRon stands and steps away. Carlson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Carlson shoots for a double leg takedown but LaRon sprawls well. He's pushed Carlson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

LaRon gets the takedown into side control.

LaRon decides to stand back up. LaRon steps back and let's Carlson get back to his feet.
LaRon throws a leg kick but Carlson sees it coming and checks it nicely.

LaRon fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Carlson, pushing him back against the cage.
LaRon landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Carlson jumps guard but LaRon stands there with Carlson around his waist. Carlson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

LaRon breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

LaRon has taken the fight to the clinch.
A shot in the inside from LaRon.
Carlson is trying to pull guard but LaRon has him pressed against the cage.

LaRon pulls guard successfully.
Travis LaRon has got the better of the ground game so far.

Carlson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

LaRon drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
LaRon must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

LaRon gets to his feet. Carlson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

LaRon decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

LaRon stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Carlson to get to his feet.

LaRon shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Carlson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Travis LaRon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Carlson is looking to stand up but LaRon isn't so interested in that idea.

LaRon avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

LaRon stands up from Carlson's guard - LaRon perhaps looking for a knockout.

Carlson gets caught napping as LaRon dives in and scores a takedown. Carlson manages to retain guard.

LaRon gets to his feet. Carlson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

LaRon connects with an inside leg kick.
LaRon has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

LaRon shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Carlson's guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Carlson is looking to stand up but LaRon isn't so interested in that idea.

Carlson is working an open guard so LaRon takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Carlson is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables LaRon to keep the fight standing.
LaRon trying to control the position but instead, Carlson has worked for underhooks and has pushed LaRon into the cage.

Carlson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

LaRon moves into the clinch successfully.
Carlson tries to pull guard but LaRon won't allow it.

LaRon manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Carlson prevents LaRon from getting back to his feet.

LaRon scrambles and gets back to his feet.

LaRon gets a clinch.

LaRon has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Carlson regains guard immediately.

Well LaRon has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
