Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Serega Ukolov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tauno Tappelija!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ukolov fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Serega Ukolov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tappelija goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
It looks like Serega Ukolov has been cut.
Ukolov shoots in looking for a takedown. Tappelija tries to sprawl out of it but Ukolov keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Tappelija manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Tappelija misses with a body kick.
Tappelija drops Ukolov with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Ukolov looks back up at him and smiles so Tappelija waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Tappelija is really turning it up, unleashing another crisp combination which drops Ukolov like a ton of bricks! The referee dives in to stop the fight, saving Ukolov from another fist facial!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tauno Tappelija!
