The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bjj shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Van Dijk's guard.

Bjj got a little sloppy there for a moment and Van Dijk has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bjj has managed to get both his arms back between Van Dijk's legs - danger averted.

Van Dijk is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Van Dijk had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bjj defends it easily.
Bjj sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Van Dijk's guard.
Bjj lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Bjj seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Van Dijk does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Van Dijk has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Bjj. Oh but Van Dijk has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Bjj goes limp - he's gone! Van Dijk jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
