Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ethan Lurch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dennis Pegeant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lurch comes to the cage accompanied by Won't back down - Tom Petty. Dennis Pegeant has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Ethan Lurch's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ethan Lurch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dennis Pegeant!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Emerson Jorge and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lurch is looking to clinch but Pegeant is avoiding it.
Pegeant misses with a head kick.
Pegeant connects with a leg kick. Lurch looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Pegeant tries to sprawl but Lurch drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Nice strikes from Lurch there.

Pegeant looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Lurch thows a huge punch but Pegeant dodges it nicely.
Pegeant makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Pegeant.
Lurch wants to control from the top but Pegeant keeps moving.
Lurch not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Lurch really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Pegeant trying to keep a closed guard but Lurch is proving a slippery customer.
Lurch wants to stand but Pegeant has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

We're going to have a standup here because Ethan Lurch wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Pegeant misses with a head kick.
We've been told by Lurch's head coaches at Soul Supremacy Elite Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Lurch tries to clinch but Pegeant moves out of range.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Lurch.
Lurch throws a strike aimed at the side of Pegeant's head but Pegeant avoids it well.
Pegeant is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Pegeant manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Pegeant is keen to just control but Lurch is a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lurch keeps control of the position for the meantime.

Pegeant is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Lurch is trying to get back to full guard.
Pegeant wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lurch keeps working.

Lurch is trying to maintain the position but Pegeant is very close to passing his half guard.

Pegeant is looking for a kimura here.
Lurch makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Lurch.
Lurch wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Pegeant manages to pass to side control.
Lurch wants to improve his position but Pegeant is controlling well.

Pegeant seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lurch does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Pegeant prevents Lurch from improving his position.
Pegeant is trying to control. Lurch wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ethan Lurch dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Lurch goes for a double leg but Pegeant avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Pegeant continues to drive forward.

Lurch manages to break the clinch.
Pegeant looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Lurch fails with an attempt to clinch.
Horrible takedown by Lurch or perhaps it was just good defense by Pegeant which made him look bad.
Lurch shoots in looking for a takedown. Pegeant tries to sprawl out of it but Lurch keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pegeant manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ethan Lurch. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Pegeant decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Pegeant trying to control the action but Lurch is working from the bottom.
Lurch is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Pegeant is trying to control. Lurch wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Pegeant looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Lurch is trying to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pegeant stops Lurch from getting back to his feet.
Lurch has a hand on Pegeant's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Pegeant takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Pegeant content just to control the position here.
Pegeant looking to control but Lurch is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Pegeant might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Lurch haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Lurch regains half guard.
Lurch is not content to let Pegeant control the position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Dennis Pegeant hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Lurch tries to clinch

and Pegeant counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Lurch misses with a hook to the ribs.
Pegeant prevents Lurch from breaking the clinch.
Pegeant wants to break free but Lurch has control.

Lurch is trying to push Pegeant away but Pegeant has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Pegeant wants a takedown.
Lurch tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Pegeant's elbow.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Lurch.

Lurch breaks from the clinch.
Lurch fails with a takedown attempt.
Pegeant takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Nice sprawl there from Lurch as Pegeant shoots in.

Lurch throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Pegeant was covering up waiting for the punch and Lurch finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Lurch wants to pass the guard but Pegeant is keeping the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ethan Lurch will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Lurch gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Pegeant to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Pegeant wants to control from the top but Lurch keeps moving.
Lurch wants to sweep but no luck.
We've been informed that Pegeant has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Pegeant stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lurch swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Lurch is trying to keep Pegeant in close.
Pegeant trying to control the position from guard on top but Lurch is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Lurch can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Pegeant controls the pace.

Dennis Pegeant has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Lurch takes a swing at Pegeant's ribcage but misses.
Pegeant looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lurch is fending him off so far but Pegeant persists. Nope, Lurch circles away and we're back to standing.
Lurch darts in looking for a takedown but Pegeant gets double underhooks and turns Lurch into the cage.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Lurch is trying to break the clinch but Pegeant has him pressed against the cage.

Lurch is trying to push Pegeant away but Pegeant has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Pegeant is trying to drag Lurch to the mat but Lurch just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Lurch lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Lurch is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Pegeant is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Lurch gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Ethan Lurch has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dennis Pegeant.
Lurch prevents Pegeant from breaking the clinch.
Lurch is looking for a takedown.
Pegeant is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Lurch gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Pegeant's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Lurch tries to break free but Pegeant pushes him back against the cage.

Lurch is fighting off a takedown attempt but Pegeant is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Lurch to the mat. Lurch regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Pegeant fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Lurch to the ground. Pegeant is now in Lurch's guard.
Lurch is trying to keep Pegeant in close.

Lurch looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Pegeant passes into side control.
Lurch is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Pegeant tries to move to mount but Lurch blocks the move with his legs.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dennis Pegeant comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Lurch has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
