PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sub Zero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and William Klinger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Klinger is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Dangerous Muse - Give Me Danger. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sub Zero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, William Klinger!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Colin Fray and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zero tries to clinch but Klinger is having none of it.

Klinger looking to score a takedown here. Zero is defending well but Klinger drives through and ends up in Zero's guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Klinger is looking to work some ground and pound but Zero has wrist control.
Zero trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Zero is trying to keep Klinger in close.
Zero has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Klinger trying to control the position from guard on top but Zero is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Zero on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Zero tries to get out of the position.
Zero pulls Klinger in close to his closed guard and prevents Klinger from doing any damage or advancing position.
Klinger postures up.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Sub Zero just wasn't active enough.
A telegraphed right hand from Klinger misses the target.
Zero walks into a left hand.
Klinger misses with a straight right.
Klinger misses with a hook.
Zero defending well as Klinger loads up on a big left hand.
Klinger works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Zero closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Klinger did well to prevent Zero getting side control.
Klinger wants to sweep but Zero has passed to side control!

Zero decides to stand back up. Zero steps back and let's Klinger get back to his feet.
William Klinger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Zero keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Klinger lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Zero shoots in and bounces Klinger off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Zero is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Sub Zero just wasn't active enough.
Klinger thows a body shot but no joy.
A right-left combo lands from Klinger.


It looks like Sub Zero has been cut.
Klinger misses with an attempted mid kick.
Zero defending well as Klinger loads up on a big left hand.
Klinger lands a nice looking body shot.
A telegraphed right hand from Klinger misses the target.
Klinger throws an overhand right that lands on Zero's shoulder, as Zero tries to avoid the shot.
Klinger jabs Zero to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Zero throws a sloppy head kick and Klinger moves out of range easily.
Zero takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Zero throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Klinger tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Zero is in Klinger's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Zero's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Zero gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Zero closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Klinger's guard.
Klinger tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Klinger looks winded!
Klinger is trying to keep Zero in close.
Klinger is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Klinger can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Zero controls the pace.
Zero slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Zero in side control, just content to control the action for now.

Zero stands up and we're back to a striking position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Zero avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Zero slips under a jab from Klinger.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Zero.

Klinger fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Zero to the ground. Klinger is now in Zero's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Sub Zero will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Sub Zero's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Zero throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Klinger moves in looking to clinch but Zero pushes him off.
Klinger scores with a shot to the body.

Zero gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Klinger is pressed up against the cage. Zero has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Klinger down to the mat. Klinger avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Zero on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Klinger scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Klinger shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Zero pinned against the cage. Zero gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Klinger fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Zero manages to avoid it.
Klinger misses with a left hand
and Zero counters with a big head kick but Klinger shrugs it off.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Zero closes the distance and clinches up with Klinger, looking for a takedown. Zero pushes Klinger against the cage but Klinger circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Zero tries to clinch but Klinger is having none of it.
Klinger throws a head kick that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Decent striking displayed by Zero there.
Zero shoots in for a double leg but Klinger sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sub Zero. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Zero dives in and grabs Klinger's left leg, looking for a takedown. Klinger pushes down on Zero's head and hops out.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Zero takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Zero steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Klinger.
Zero displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Klinger throws out the jab.
Klinger will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Klinger darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Klinger circles away from the clinch attempt.
Klinger throws a big shot that misses.
Klinger throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Klinger is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Zero paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Klinger.
Zero circles away from the clinch attempt.

Zero misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Klinger connects with a single shot there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Klinger throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Zero bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Klinger misses with an uppercut. Zero saw that one coming.
Zero is trying hard to land a takedown here. Klinger sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Klinger clobbers Zero with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Zero fails with an attempt to clinch.
Klinger connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Zero on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Zero keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Klinger.
Klinger throws out a powerful jab.
Zero tries to clinch there but Klinger circles away.
Zero bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

Zero scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Zero tries to move to mount but Klinger blocks the move with his legs.
Zero scores with a couple of short elbows.
Zero wants to lay and pray for a moment but Klinger keeps working.

Zero thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Zero looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Zero staying calm.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Klinger is looking to regain half guard here but Zero keeps moving and retains side control.
Klinger trying his best to control but Zero has mounted him.
Klinger working to try and regain half guard.
Zero working the ground and pound effectively.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Zero content just to control the position here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but William Klinger will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Zero moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Klinger shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Zero manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Zero looking to control.
Klinger throws a strike but Zero rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Zero trying to control but Klinger is working from the bottom.
Zero wants to pass the guard but Klinger is keeping the position.

Klinger looking for a sweep. Not yet Klinger, not yet.
Klinger manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Zero manages to get himself to full guard.
Zero throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Zero keeping moving, preventing Klinger from controlling successfully.

Zero looking for a guillotine here but Klinger defends easily.

Zero has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Klinger should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Zero has tightened it up now! Klinger should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
