PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tamas Singha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mike Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Arvi Lind and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Singha throws a series of punches but Jackson moves out of range.
Singha misses with a combination

and Jackson counters by moving into the clinch.
Jackson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Jackson is looking for a takedown.
Singha tries to pull guard but Jackson holds him up against the cage and eventually Singha drops back down to his feet.
Jackson wants to get back to striking at distance but Singha won't allow it.
Singha has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Jackson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Jackson dodges an elbow strike from Singha.

Jackson gets underhooks to prevent Singha's takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tamas Singha. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Singha shoots in for a takedown but Jackson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Jackson is working an open guard so Singha takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Singha closes the distance and clinches up with Jackson, looking for a takedown. Singha pushes Jackson against the cage but Jackson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Jackson wants to control but Singha is keeping him busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Jackson is controlling the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mike Jackson was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Jackson closes the distance and clinches.

Singha jumps guard and drags Jackson to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Singha bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jackson's guard.

Jackson throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Jackson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Singha controls the pace.

Jackson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Singha defends it easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Singha wants to clinch up but Jackson keeps it at a distance.

Singha gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Jackson tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Singha jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Jackson walks away with a smile on his face. Singha gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Singha is fighting off a takedown attempt but Jackson is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Singha to the mat. Singha regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Singha wants to sweep here but Jackson controlling him for the moment.
Jackson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Mike Jackson has got the better of the ground game so far.
Singha is trying to control the position but Jackson postures up.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That was a close second round but I would say that Tamas Singha will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Singha has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Jackson avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

I would just about give that final round to Mike Jackson.
