Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ted Butler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Medvedev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Medvedev doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Butler holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Butler breaks the clinch.
Medvedev swats away the attempt to clinch by Butler.
Medvedev has his takedown stuffed

and Butler counters by moving into the clinch.

Butler successfully pulls guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Butler tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Butler is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Butler keeping moving, preventing Medvedev from controlling successfully.
Medvedev trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Butler thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Butler working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Medvedev has passed into half guard!

Butler has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Medvedev is on him like a limpet, forcing Butler back against the cage.
Butler has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Butler has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Medvedev stands up over Butler, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Medvedev postures up in Butler's guard and throws a big left but Butler blocks it.

Butler looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Medvedev won't allow Butler to get back to his feet.

Medvedev is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Butler is rocked!
Medvedev loads up on a big left hand. Butler felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Medvedev looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Butler can't hide his disappointment, as Medvedev celebrates the victory.
