The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Asdf shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Cormier eats them both and turns towards Asdf to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Asdf has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Cormier stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Asdf swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. SDf Asdf wasn't active enough on the ground.

OK we're going to have a standup here. SDf Asdf hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
