PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rudolf Varga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and SJ Mitchell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rudolf Varga had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 206.1lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. SJ Mitchell told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mitchell closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Varga quickly recovers to half guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Varga wants to improve his position but Mitchell is controlling well.
Mitchell stops Varga from getting back to his feet.
Mitchell seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Varga does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

It looks like Rudolf Varga has been cut.
Varga's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Mitchell has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Rudolf Varga's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Varga sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
