PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Joshua Drum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hayden Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Drum comes to the cage accompanied by Emiliana Torrini - Jungle Drum. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Joshua Drum!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Hayden Lee!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Santiago Holmes and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Drum staying out of range there.
Lee misses with an uppercut
and Drum cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Lee throws an off balance right hand
and Drum counters with a stiff right hand.
Drum swings for the body but Lee moves out of range.
Drum keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Lee.
Lee throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Drum sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Drum shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Lee misses the jab.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lee uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Drum.
Drum throws a hook to the side of Lee's head but Lee sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Drum swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Drum misses with a left hand
and Lee counters with a nice body shot.
Nice defenses there by Drum.
Lee keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Drum.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lee takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Drum lands a jab to Lee's midsection.
Lee scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Drum throws a right and a left that Lee avoids nicely.
Lee throws a jab but it's blocked by Drum.
Lee throws a big shot that misses.

Lee staying out of range there.
Lee looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

and Drum counters with a nice uppercut.
Lee just misses with a punch to the body.
Lee misses with an uppercut. Drum saw that one coming.
Lee looks to throw the jab but Drum is out of range.
Drum looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Lee slips under a jab.
Lee throws an off balance right hand
and Drum counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

A nice combination there by Drum.


Lee is rocked!
Lee catches Drum with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lee throws a right hand that misses
and Drum counters with a nice uppercut.
Lee is still on wobbly legs! Can Drum finish him?
Lee keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Lee seems to have recovered his senses.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Lee looks to throw the jab but Drum is out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Lee swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Lee throws a hook but Drum blocks it.
Drum connects with a right hand. Lee shakes it off.
Drum moves away from the strike by Lee.

Oooooh!!! Drum has knocked Lee down with a huge combo! Drum steps away and waves a wobbly Lee back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Joshua Drum is winning the standup battle so far.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Lee connects with the punch.

Drum with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Lee to score with a decent uppercut.
Drum cracks Lee with an open hand slap.
Lee lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Lee waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Drum.
Drum looks to score with a jab to the body but Lee is just out of range.
Lee might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Drum ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Drum ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Lee staying out of range there.
Drum misses with an uppercut. Lee saw that one coming.
Lee ducks under a wild hook from Drum.
Lee swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Drum lands a jab.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lee pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Lee looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Drum keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Lee throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Lee throws an overhand right that lands on Drum's shoulder, as Drum tries to avoid the shot.
Drum comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Drum slips a straight right by Lee.
Lee moves out of range of the strikes.
Lee lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Drum circles away quickly and effectively.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Drum misses with a hook.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joshua Drum dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!

letting Lee counter with a right hand.
Drum throws a hook but Lee avoids it easily.
A looping hook to the body misses from Lee. Drum does a little dance to reset his feet.
Lee keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Drum.
Drum lands with an overhand left.
Drum misses with a double jab
enabling Lee to counter with a crisp jab.

Lee takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Drum misses with a straight left.
Drum misses with a hook. Lee ducked under it nicely.
Lee misses with an uppercut.
Lee swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Drum counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Lee connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lee throws out a loose jab but Drum uses good head movement to avoid it.
Drum throws a good cross that connects.
No joy there for Lee, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Drum misses with a hook. Lee ducked under it nicely.
Lee takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Drum dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Drum takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Drum lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Drum lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lee circles away quickly and effectively.
Lee dodges the punch combination from Drum.
Lee throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Drum walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Drum throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Lee counters with a nice body shot.

And that's the end of the fight!
Joshua Drum showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Drum has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
