Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Budo Rei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Esa Tikkanen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rei comes to the cage accompanied by Alice in Chains - No Excuses. Tikkanen is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Bring The Pain. Esa Tikkanen told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 33 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Budo Rei!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Esa Tikkanen!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Chris Edwards and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tikkanen fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Tikkanen fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rei manages to avoid it.
Tikkanen dives in for a single leg takedown but Rei sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Rei lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Tikkanen circles away quickly and effectively.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Rei enables Tikkanen to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Rei manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

A punch lands to the side of Rei 's head but he takes it in his stride.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rei takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
That kick from Tikkanen tenderised Rei's leg. Rei is trying to keep his angry face on.
Tikkanen lands a nice looking kick to the body. Rei takes a step back to recover.
Tikkanen lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Rei throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Tikkanen stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Rei has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Rei there as he acknowledges the shot.

Esa Tikkanen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Tikkanen shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Tikkanen with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Rei to score with a decent uppercut.
